Council understands there are instances such as replacing a boundary fence where vegetation may be required to be removed. In these instances, an approved permit from Council is required.
Under the Land Act a landholder can clear up to a 3m width off their boundary line into the road reserve with permission from the local government authority.
Process for Permit application: Call Council or visit a Customer Contact Center to have a Fence line clearing permit application be submitted. You will need to provide the following details:
- Lot and Plan number/Assessment number
- Reason for wanting to clear vegetation
- Road frontage they plan to clear
- A basic traffic safety management plan
