Tara Reconciliation Week 2025 - Bridging Now to Next
Published on 01 April 2025
The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present, and future. Western Downs Regional Council will host its 2025 Reconciliation Week event in Tara on Wednesday 28 May.
Featuring the theme Bridging Now to Next, the event will encourage Australians to look ahead and continue moving forward, drawing on the lessons of the past for guidance. Amid uncertainty in Australia's reconciliation journey, the theme serves as a rallying call for unity and progress.
Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Peter Saxelby said the vital role Council had in such events play in fostering inclusion and acceptance across the region.
"Reconciliation Week is a time for us to come together, reflect on our shared history, and build a future based on mutual respect and understanding," Cr Saxelby said.
"Hosting Reconciliation Week events in the Western Downs is vital to fostering a sense of inclusion and acceptance in our community. It's an opportunity for us to learn from each other and grow together.
"Bridging Now to Next is not just a theme; it's a call to action. We must continue to push forward, guided by the lessons of the past, to create a more united and respectful nation.
"Reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and it's up to each of us to take meaningful steps towards a more inclusive and equitable Australia.
“Western Downs continues to stand as a beacon of inclusion and acceptance, fostering mutual respect and understanding through events like these. This is not just a celebration it’s a call to action, urging all of us to take meaningful steps toward a more united and equitable future.
“Let’s join hands, learn from one another, and bridge the gap from today to tomorrow together.”
