Raise a Glass with Stephanie Trethewey at Books & Bubbles 2025
Published on 27 February 2025
Sip on chilled bubbly, savour hors d’oeuvres, and mingle with talented authors, presenters, and fellow festival attendees at the sparkling Books & Bubbles event with Stephanie Trethewey on Saturday 15 March from 6.30pm to 10pm.
This relaxed-yet-vibrant evening celebrates storytelling and connection, offering the perfect opportunity to dress up with friends and immerse yourself in an inspiring night. Stephanie Trethewey, the 2024 Australian of the Year for Tasmania, is pioneering advocate for rural mothers and the founder of Motherland, a charity that supports mental health and connection for rural mums.
Her inspiring journey has led her to create programs like the Motherland podcast and the Motherland Village support network, both of which have had a profound impact on hundreds of rural women.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said Books & Bubbles is a unique opportunity to bring together book lovers and celebrate the power of storytelling.
"We're honoured to have Stephanie Trethewey share her incredible journey and insights with our community," Mayor Smith said.
"Stephanie's work with Motherland has made a significant impact on rural communities, and her presence at our event contributes to our commitment to supporting and uplifting diverse voices within the region.
“Books & Bubbles, as part of the wider Words Out West Festival, plays a key role in promoting cultural tourism and our community’s love for literature, books and learning.
"These events not only enrich our cultural landscape but also attract visitors who appreciate the arts and literature.
"We look forward to this sparkling evening of inspiration and connection."
