Western Downs Regional Council brings movie magic to Mary's Place
Published on 29 February 2024
Mary's Place, a beloved community space that was officially opened in August 2023, is set to transform into a vibrant outdoor cinema space with the launch of free monthly Movies@Mary's.
Movies@Mary's will bring a free monthly outdoor movie session to Mary's Place, offering the community an opportunity to enjoy films under the stars. The first movie night is scheduled for Saturday, 23rd of March 2024 from 7pm, featuring the screening of Blueback.
Chief Executive Officer Jodie Taylor said this initiative not only activated Mary's Place but also provided families with a free entertainment option, promoting a sense of togetherness and fun within our community.
"The outdoor movie screenings will offer a range of family-friendly films in a relaxed setting, encouraging attendees to bring along picnics and blankets for a cozy evening," Mrs Taylor said.
"Movies@Mary's is not just about providing an exciting new event for you and your family to enjoy, but it also aligns with Council's priorities of fostering active vibrant communities and promoting family-friendly activities in the Western Downs region.
"Council believes Movies@Mary's will become a cherished part of the events calendar, offering locals a chance to come together and create lasting memories. This free community event is all about giving families and friends a cool movie experience while bringing everyone together for a good time.”
Council looks forward to welcoming everyone to Mary's Place for an unforgettable cinematic experience under the stars.
Limited deck chairs and beanbags will be provided, and residents are encouraged to get in early to secure their spot or bring a blanket or their own chairs.
Those attending are encouraged to bring their own non-alcoholic beverages and favourite movie treats to enjoy during the film.
