Fresh opportunity for prime Dalby recreational space

Western Downs Regional Council is calling for Expressions of Interest to explore opportunities to transform an under-utilized parcel of land in a prime recreational area at Dalby.
Following a decision at its February Ordinary Meeting, Council has resolved to explore suitable opportunities for the 2.0899ha site which runs between Myall Street and Amos Street.
Chief Executive Officer Jodie Taylor said the decision presented an opportunity to enhance Dalby's visitor and recreation offerings.
"The Western Downs is known for its beautiful landscapes and natural scenery, and the Myall Creek Parklands is one of our region's much-loved assets," Mrs Taylor said.
"The piece of land between Myall Street and Amos Street is a huge space that is largely unused, and Council sees opportunity to explore how the area could be enhanced and ultimately enjoyed for years to come.
"The site sits within the Recreation and Open Space Zone, so any submission must be consistent with zoning of the land and suitable to the region's needs."
Mrs Taylor said the EOI process was open to all submissions provided the proposed use was consistent with the current zoning.
"This EOI is open to all submitters under proposed lease arrangement, including businesses, community groups, or even tourism and visitor groups," she said.
"Should Council receive any suitable proposals, a closed tender process will then be undertaken, followed by a development assessment process.
"This is a unique opportunity to understand market interest in the site, and we will ensure neighbouring residents are kept informed of any advancements."
EOIs will be accepted until 25 March 2024. For more information view the tender on Council's website or contact Economic Development Manager Lidewij Koene-Sloss via Council's general number on 1300 268 624.
