Western Downs residents can now keep track of all the clubs, events and services in the Western Downs, thanks to the My Community Directory + Diary platform.
Community groups, organisations, clubs, not-for-profits, and essential service providers can now list their information and submit events for free through the online directory.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said the My Community Directory service was like a “digital Yellow Pages” with loads of great local listings and contact information for community organisations across the Western Downs.
“With the growing number of events and services being offered across the region, My Community Directory will help prevent scheduling conflicts, ensuring that Western Downs residents can make the most of their leisure time without worrying about events clashing,” Mayor Smith said.
“My Community Directory is a fantastic resource that brings together the many wonderful clubs, services, and events happening across the Western Downs.
“By providing a clear, centralised listing, we help reduce the issue of overlapping events and support our vibrant community in making the most of everything on offer.
“This platform makes it easier for locals to engage, connect, and participate in activities that enrich their lives.”
Mayor Smith said the directory covers a wide range of categories, including sporting clubs, cultural events, local support services, and more.
“My Community Directory is a stand-alone tool implemented by many local governments across Australia to engage residents of all ages, from families looking for fun activities to seniors seeking social opportunities,” he said.
“In addition to helping avoid event conflicts, the platform also promotes community engagement, encouraging residents to take full advantage of what the region has to offer.
“Community groups and event organisers can also use My Community Directory to reach a broader audience, ensuring that no one misses out on important events or services”
