Epic celebration of region's youth set to hit the Western Downs!
Published on 19 July 2023
The region's young people are invited to the ultimate epic day out at Council's Youth Fest, taking place across the region next month.
The family-friendly festival, Youth Fest, will be popping up in Chinchilla, Miles and Tara during August, packed with exciting activities designed to excite and entertain the young and young-at-heart.
Attendees to the free events are sure to have fun, learn new skills and make memories with a wide range of action-packed activities including the Ghostly Games Trailer, laser skirmish, DJ, Own the Rock basketball workshops, STEM activities, face painting, and a craft workshop.
Councillor Kaye Maguire, Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development said Youth Fest was a fantastic initiative, designed to encourage young people to head outside, enjoy themselves, and be active in our region's vibrant communities.
"Our young people are the future of our region, and they deserve to be celebrated! Council is proud to be able to bring people together for an unforgettable day of fun at these huge family-friendly events around the Western Downs as part of Youth Month,” Cr Maguire said.
“Our Youth Month events are always hugely popular around the region, and I'm certain that the 2023 Youth Fest will be just as much of a hit with the kids and their families.
"This year we've got the amazing Ghostly Games Trailer, an 8-meter-long gaming heaven filled with gaming consoles and over 150 games. There is also going to be Own the Rock basketball workshops, music, craft and science activities.
“There is going to be something there for everyone, regardless of age, interests, or abilities.
"We like to say on the Western Downs that 'it's the people that make it', and our region's youth play a huge role in making our region such a fantastic place to live, work and prosper. I encourage everyone to get their friends and family together and be a part of Youth Fest - it's going to be a day to remember!"
