Calling all artists! 2025 Western Downs Regional Artists' Exhibition now open for entries.

Artists and creatives across the Western Downs are invited to get their creative juices flowing and enter the 2025 Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition with the theme Disrupt.

The Regional Artists’ Exhibition, which returns for its 12th year in 2025, is collaboratively planned and presented by the region's major art galleries: Dogwood Crossing, Miles, Gallery 107@Dalby, and Lapunyah Art Gallery, Chinchilla.

This year’s competition is hosted by Dogwood Crossing at Miles culminating in an exhibition of works later in the year.

The theme for this year, Disrupt encourages artists to explore concepts of altering an ongoing path or situation, either intentionally or accidentally.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Peter Saxelby said the annual exhibition showcased the region's diverse creative talent, reflecting the passion and vibrancy of the Western Downs communities.

"The Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition has been a cornerstone of our creative arts scene since 2014," Cr Saxelby said.

"We are fortunate to have such a wonderful platform to celebrate the people who make our region vibrant and creative.

“The theme challenges artists to explore our complex world, with its mix of various factors, and how disruptions can occur at many points, prompting questions and inspiring expression.

“Art and artists play diverse roles in society by pushing boundaries, reflecting beauty, provoking emotions, and questioning norms, highlighting who is excluded or celebrated.

"The exhibition offers our region’s visitors a glimpse into the unique and creative insights of our local artists, while enjoying the many exciting tourist attractions in the Western Downs.

"Our premiere art exhibition continues to grow, with 53 local artists participating last year alone. This truly shows that there is no shortage of talent in our region, and I am excited to see how local artists interpret the exciting new theme, Disrupt.”

The exhibition offers a total prize pool of $3800 with four Category Prizes, the Young Artist Merit Award, and the People's Choice Award.

Entries for this year’s Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition are now open, and close 5pm Monday 7July 2025.

The exhibition will be on display at Dogwood Crossing, Miles from 20 September – 1 November 2025. It will also feature on the Western Downs Arts website as a gallery and 3D virtual exhibition.
