Western Downs Regional Council is introducing new face-to-face service hours across all of its customer service centres effective Thursday, 2 January 2025.

The new service hours, 9am to 4pm weekdays, will take effect in the Dalby, Chinchilla, Tara, Jandowae, Wandoan, and Miles customer service centres.

Library, visitor information centre and Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) opening hours will remain unchanged.

Western Downs Regional Council CEO Jodie Taylor said Council had enacted the changes to streamline customer service centres and allow for more efficient service delivery over the long term.

"This action is not a reduction in the hours worked by customer service centre employees; however, it does free up a set number of hours each week for current staff to effectively undertake other tasks such as banking and daily reconciliations," Mrs Taylor said.

"Our customer service centre staff members are often the friendly first point of call for Council services and information, so we are asking for our communities' support while we make the transition to our new face-to-face service hours."

"Customer service centre staff will still be available to assist the community with online services through 'webchat' and phone enquiries through our 1300 COUNCIL number from 8am to 5pm on weekdays."
