CS Energy has been awarded the esteemed 'Gold Great Neighbour' status by Western Downs Regional Council, marking the start of a new era for communities partnering in the region.

The accolade, which was awarded in line with Council's Communities Partnering Framework, underscores CS Energy's dedication and commitment to supporting strong economic, social and environmental outcomes whilst doing business in Western Downs region.

The framework sets Council's expectations for large-scale companies and corporations operating in the region to foster and maintain great communities partnering relationships and includes a self-assessment tool for businesses to assess their performance against the core expectations of the framework.

Western Downs Mayor Andrew Smith congratulated CS Energy on being the first company to receive a 'Gold Great Neighbour' badge since the adoption of Council's new Communities Partnering Framework.

"CS Energy has set a great example for other developers and large businesses in the region and ranked extremely highly against our Communities Partnering Framework self-assessment tool to earn the first 'Gold Great Neighbour' badge for our region," Mayor Smith said.

"The Framework highlights key areas of focus including fostering trusted partnerships, growing local talent, legacy investment in the community and its infrastructure, respect for the natural environment, acknowledgement and collaboration with landholders and First Nations communities, and good governance and reporting.

"The Communities Partnering Framework is tailored to large businesses, like CS Energy, who either employ more than 200 employees or have an annual turnover of more than $250 million, emphasising the importance of strong partnerships with business and community.

"By working together with CS Energy, we can ensure our region is a safe and welcoming place, and ensure future generations can continue to live, work and play on the Western Downs."

CS Energy Acting CEO Emma Roberts said CS Energy was honoured to be awarded ‘Gold Great Neighbour’ status and proud of the positive, long-lasting relationships it has built, and continues to nurture, within the Western Downs community.

“The Western Downs region is not just a place where we do business—it’s a community we deeply value and we are committed to delivering positive outcomes for the people and communities we work alongside,” Ms Roberts said.

“We are proud to collaborate with Western Downs Regional Council under their Communities Partnering Framework, ensuring our actions reflect and support the community’s core values and ambitions.”
