Councillor Megan James is a second-term Councillor, consultant and small business owner with more than 30 years’ experience in communications and marketing underpinned by qualifications in business, facilitation, and pastoral care and chaplaincy.  

After growing up on cotton and grain farm near Dalby, Cr James completed a Bachelor of Business and went on to work in public relations and communications roles in Government and corporate sectors in Brisbane and Newcastle, across industries including energy, agriculture, property development and health, before returning home to the Western Downs in 2004. She served over a decade on the management team of a local top-100 accounting firm consulting in marketing, business strategy and succession planning, before being elected to Council in 2020. She is an accredited DISC facilitator and an alumni of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation.

An avid reader, writer and learner, Cr James also enjoys keeping active through singing, netball and pilates. Together with her husband, Cr James owns and operates an agricultural transport business. She enjoys engaging in local sport, performing arts, church and community organisations and events and spending time with her three young-adult children.
