Parks Week 2024

Get out and celebrate the beautiful parks of the Western Downs as we shine a light on all the region's loved outdoor spaces. Pack a picnic and a ball, take the family for some free-of-charge fun in the sun, or get on board with one of the many events happening at a park near you from 2-10 March.

 

5 March 2024 | Storytime at Rotary Park, Jandowae

This special Storytime for Parks Week will be from 9.30 to 10.30am in Rotary Park, Jandowae.

Registration is not required for this free event so bring the littlies along for some outdoor fun.

Photos and/or videos may be taken at this event for promotional purposes.  If you do not want to be photographed, please let our friendly staff know on arrival to this event.

5 March 2024 | Chinchilla Storytime in Lions Park

Bring the littlies and enjoy this fun Storytime session in a marquee set up in Lions Park from 10-11am.

5 March 2024 | Storytime in Grevillea Park, Tara

Join Tara Library staff and our Parks and Recreation team from 10am to 11.30am for a very special Parks Week Storytime! Come along to Grevillia Park for some fantastic stories, songs, craft and learn how to plant your own seeds to grow at home. Kids will take home their newly seed pots and seeds to watch them grow.

This is for children aged 5 and under.

5 March 2024 | Parks Week Seed Workshop at Moonie

Moonie Library will host a Seed Workshop with local school children at the grassed area at the front of the Rural Transaction Centre on Tuesday, 5 March at 11am. No cost and n o registration required - just comes along and have some fun! 

 

5 March 2024 | Dalby Storytime in Thomas Jack Park

This special Storytime edition will be held in a marquee in Thomas Jack Park from 9.30-10.30am. Come along and join the fun with the Dalby Library crew.

5 March 2024 | Meandarra Storytime in Leo Gordon Apex Park

Bring the kids along to enjoy this fun Storytime session for Parks Week (March 2-10) presented by the Meandarra Library team from 1.45-2.45pm in Leo Gordon Apex Park. Meandarra State School will be enjoying this session too. 

Parks Week celebrates parks across the Western Downs and encouraged everyone in the community to get out and enjoy our beautiful open spaces. 

6 March 2024 | Chinchilla Community Planting Day

Bring the family for some fun in the Chinchilla Botanic Parklands and help to sow thousands of wildflower seeds that will create a tapestry of colour in autumn and into the winter months. This fun event is led by the Council's Parks and Recreation team.

You'll need to BYO hat and water bottle and there's a sausage sizzle for everyone once the hard work is done. The Community Planting Day is happening from 9 to 10.30am. 

 

7 March 2024 | Miles Library Storytime in Morgan Place

Join the fun as the Miles Library team hosts this fun Storytime session in a Marquee in Morgan Place from 10-11am along with Miles Playgroup and Long Day Care Kindy.

This is part of Parks Week from 2-10 March where communities are encouraged to get out and use the beautiful parks across the Western Downs.  

10 March 2024 | Dalby Markets in Anderson Park

Come along for a wander and a coffee in Anderson Park while you browse more than 60 stalls from 8am to 1pm today and on the second Sunday of every month. Check the Dalby Markets - Anderson Park QLD Facebook page for more details.

12 March 2024 | Wandoan Storytime in O'Sullivan Park

Join this fun Storytime session with the Wandoan Library team from 9.30-10.30am in O'Sullivan Park.

Parks Week, from 2-10 March, celebrates the beautiful parks of the Western Downs region and encourages everyone in the community to get out and enjoy them.

Saturdays - Dalby Park Run through the parklands

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! Full details here.

 

Saturdays - Chinchilla Park Run at Charleys Creek

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! The event takes place at Rotary Park, Charleys Creek, Warrego Highway, Chinchilla. More details can be found here.

 

 

Saturdays - Miles Park Run at Moraby Park

Join this free 5km run or walk every Saturday morning from 7am in Moraby Park, Miles. A great way to get out and enjoy a local park during Parks Week from March 2-10. Find out more about Park Run here.

Saturdays Waterloo Plains Park Run, Wandoan

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! Every Saturday in Wandoan's Waterloo Plains Environmental Park from 7am.  Full details can be found here
