Official Opening of the Chinchilla Cultural Precinct

Join us as we celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated Chinchilla Cultural Precinct! The community is invited to be a part of this exciting event. With an official opening ceremony, discounted movie screenings, exciting activities for the kids, and even an incredible art exhibition featuring talented local artists.

This project has been delivered as part of Council's COVID-19 Recovery Package in partnership with the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. Council is thrilled to welcome everyone to the new centre and showcase the amazing opportunities this space will offer for Chinchilla in the future.

Event Program

Official Opening Ceremony | 2:00pm
Free cupcakes in Fuller Place after official opening.

Chinchilla Library Activities | 2:30pm - 4:00pm
Christmas Storytime with Christmas Carols, Rugged Robots , iTheatre Activation , and Interactive Screen.

Lapunyah Art Gallery | 2:00pm -4:00pm
The Regeneration Exhibition calls on Chinchilla’s local artists to show their work in celebration of the refurbished Lapunyah Art Gallery, Chinchilla. Including nineteen practicing artists, Regeneration aims to re-connect residents of Chinchilla to their local gallery, and to the array of emerging and established artists living locally. This exhibition showcases a wide range of materials and processes including painting, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.

...the fun continues at the The Chinchilla Community Christmas Celebration!

From 4pm at the Chinchilla Botanic Parkland, the Chinchilla Community Christmas Celebration, organised by Western Downs Regional Council, Chinchilla Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Lions Club of Chinchilla, will feature Mayoral Carols, food and market stalls, children's rides, and entertainment. The evening's highlight will be the enchanting light up of the Lions Club Christmas lights display.
