Naming Public Assets

Naming of Council assets provides opportunities to honour individuals and groups for contributions and achievements that deserve recognition. They also present an opportunity to emphasise important relevant landmarks, geographical features or history.

Community members are invited to complete and submit the below form, outlining the relevant information pertaining to the name chosen for the selected asset.

All eligible submissions will be put to Council at the Ordinary Meeting of Council where they will decide on the preferred name. Council, at its discretion, may adopt, alter or reject any recommendation presented.

Submissions to name Council assets, excluding roads, will be assessed against the criteria listed in the below policy.

For more information, view Council’s Naming Public Assets Policy(PDF, 276KB) or contact on 1300 COUNCIL (1300 268 624) or info@wdrc.qld.gov.au.

Public assets currently open for naming:

Football Dalby (Soccer) Grounds, Dalby PCYC

Council has received a request to consider formally naming the current Football Dalby (Soccer) fields, located adjacent to the PCYC to 'Don McPherson Oval', honouring a founding figure of the Dalby & District Senior Soccer Association and a significant contributor to the Junior Soccer Club & Referees Association. The community is now invited to consider the name put forth, Don McPherson Oval, or submit other potential names for consideration by Council.

Closes 22 July 2024.
